Torvalds發布Kernel 2.6.29-rc1

Linus Torvalds稍早之前在kernel.org發布了新核心2.6.29-rc1
除了支援更多的裝置驅動，這版也加入了Btrfs檔案系統的支援


Btrfs是一個新興的檔案系統
目前的版本為0.16，它很有可能取代EXT3（EXT4?）成為下一代Linux檔案系統的主流
主要特性包括：

* Extent based file storage (2^64 max file size)
* Space efficient packing of small files
* Space efficient indexed directories
* Dynamic inode allocation
* Writable snapshots
* Subvolumes (separate internal filesystem roots)
* Object level mirroring and striping
* Checksums on data and metadata (multiple algorithms available)
* Compression
* Integrated multiple device support, with several raid algorithms
* Online filesystem check
* Very fast offline filesystem check
* Efficient incremental backup and FS mirroring
* Online filesystem defragmentation

特性上與Sun的ZFS檔案系統有些類似，都是可以用來解決企業用戶還有大容量需求的解決方案
